Computers seem to be everywhere these days. Not just in our offices or studies but in our pockets (as cellphones), in our TVs and even in our cars and appliances. Since they’re everywhere they must be easy to use, right?

They aren’t always. Even people who have been in the industry for decades sometimes find computers hard to use and sometimes things suddenly stop working no matter how computer literate you are.  Screens can die, cables fail, power supplies pop or the lightning gets a little close. Loadshedding and other power failures can also cause all sorts of problems with computers and other electronics.

Internet without cables can seem like magic even for people who are familiar with radio or remember TVs with aerials. So figuring out where and why your phone, tablet or laptop can or can’t connect can seem just as mysterious.
